
Local sourcing means that the sourcing is made in an identified region in order to favour the local workforce. Local sourcing is important because it helps preserve jobs and promote economic spinoffs in the province or country.
These two certifications are offered at the provincial or Canadian level in the composition of a product, the activities of an organization or a company, for the construction or renovation of a building.
These certifications take into account the percentage of provincial or national materials in relation to the total mass of the materials used. In fact, to obtain certification from the Taïga Initiative™: verification work is carried out by the Taïga Initiative on the completeness of the nomenclature (BOM), the mass balance, information on manufacturing sites and calculations of the percentage of local representation of components. When everything is compliant, the certification is delivered for promotion and the project is added to the register of certified projects online.
